Research summaries, case studies and process documentation from “Inclusive Protection and Empowerment Project for Children with Disabilities (IPEP)” are presented.  The aim of the project was to build resilience and capacity among children with disabilities and to create a violence-free community for them. The project ran in five districts of Bangladesh i.e. Sylhet, Dhaka, Barishal, Rangpur and Gaibandha from 2014- 2017. 

The research topics were:

• Understanding the Vulnerabilities of Children with Disabilities Living in both Government-run and Private Residential Institutions
• The Vulnerabilities of Children with Disabilities from Low-income Households
• Social Protection Schemes Relevant to Children with Disabilities and their Families 

This report presents research about efforts to meet the needs and uphold the rights of persons with disabilities in four thematic areas: health care, rehabilitation, work and employment, and accessibility and enabling environments. Research findings are drawn from the experiences of landmine and cluster munition survivors and other persons with similar needs in 33 countries experiencing armed conflict or emerging from armed conflict or political or economic transition. Findings are placed within the context of relevant articles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the World Report on Disability

"This web-based disability orientation for staff is a multi-media, 40-minute video that includes interesting and thought provoking statements, resources and good practices from UNICEF and partners from across the globe. The objective of the orientation is to strengthen understanding of, and capacity to support, programming for children and women with disabilities. The Disability Orientation consists of two main modules, each module has five lessons. The first part of the Orientation provides an overview of the disability movement and what disability means according to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The second part of the Orientation focusses on how to mainstream disability through our work. The Orientation on Disability can be taken individually or in groups"

“The elderly and the disabled like most disadvantaged groups, often have to pay higher premiums for health insurance than the general population. This condition usually leads to low health insurance coverage for these groups of people and may affect their ability to access healthcare, in view of the fact that they are not the most economically productive group of the general population. This review seeks to explore the possible role of social health insurance in solving this problem”

Approximately 5 to 5.5 millions young people with disabilities live in India; however, little is known about how they and their families perceive their transitions to adulthood. This paper uses the framework of transitions provided in the World Bank’s ‘World Development Report 2007’ to analyze opportunities for young people with disabilities with regards to issues such as education, employment and citizenship in India. The authors examine the lived experience of youth with disabilities by analyzing existing literature and secondary data. This paper is useful for people interested in learning more about youth with disabilities in India
