This operational guide provides a broad direction for implementing memory work in India in the field, based on a communication needs assessment carried out as part of the Indian Initiative for Child Centred Approaches to HIV & AIDS (IICCHAA). The guide is divided into two sections: how to roll out the training effectively at field level and some basic information about HIV and AIDS
This is a report on some of the findings of a global survey on eHealth carried out by the Global Observatory for eHealth (GOe), concerning the needs for eHealth tools and services. The survey found that WHO Member States would welcome an active involvement of WHO in the development of generic eHealth tools, while particularly non-OECD members would benefit form guidance on eHealth issues. It also found that needs vary even among OECD countries, and that existing eHealth tools and services should be better known. The report recommends that WHO should actively intervene in the provision of generic tools (eg, drug registries, patient record systems, health professional directories), facilitate access to existing tools, promote knowledge exchange, provide eHealth information and promote eLearning programmes
This study deals with the MDG-related topic of increasing the efficiency of countries in producing good outcomes with their available resources. The first two papers use country-level data to look at the efficiency of countries in improving health, education, and GDP outcomes. The last two use within-country data on health and education in Argentina and Mexico to look at the same issues. The analysis helps quantify how much progress could be achieved through better efficiency, and to some extent, how efficiency itself could be improved
This resource pack is a helpful tool aimed at services, organisations and health professionals involved in the voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) centres in Kenya. VCT services offer HIV testing to asymptomatic individuals, and pre- and post-testing counselling. Compliance with quality requirements in the provision of the service is crucial to the achievement of the objectives. The National Guidelines for VCT set minimum standards for the registration and accreditation of sites and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine has devised a comprehensive quality assurance system to accompany the upscaling of the VCT programme, with an emphasis on individual and community involvement. This resource outlines the lessons learned in the implementation of quality assurance in VCT, and includes useful training materials and tools such as self-assessment and service supervision survey forms for the monitoring and evaluation of service delivery quality
