"This report on mental health and development is a call to action to all development stakeholders - governments, civil society, multilateral agencies, bilateral agencies, global partnerships, private foundations, academic and research institutions - to focus their attention on mental health
The report presents compelling evidence that persons with mental and psychosocial disabilities are a vulnerable group but continue to be marginalized in terms of development aid and government attention. It makes the case for reaching out to this group through the design and implementation of appropriate policies and programmes and through the inclusion of mental health interventions into broader poverty reduction and development strategies. The report also describes a number of key interventions which can provide a starting point for these efforts. By investing in persons with mental and psychosocial disabilities, development outcomes can be improved"

This meeting decided that the CBR guidelines would be a joint document of ILO, UNESCO and WHO. The members of the advisory group were finalised, and their reponsibilities were outlined to decide the content of the guidelines and its development. A revised CBR matrix was drafted. This document is useful for people interested in CBR and the development of the CBR Guidelines

In 1994 the ILO, WHO and UNESCO published the first version of this joint position paper. Since then progress has been made in several fields. Nevertheless many disabled people are still not reached or included in the fields of rehabilitation, employment or education - particularly disabled women, people with mental health problems or HIV/AIDS and poor disabled people.
This paper underlines that community-based rehabilitation is a strategy promoting multi-sectoral collaboration to reach different community groups. CBR has to be based on the principles of equal opportunities, participation and human rights.

This meeting was an opportunity for Global Alliance members to take stock of activities related to lymphatic filariasis (LF) elimination programmes at country, regional and global levels. This report aims to capture the basic elements of the discussion at the meeting. This report assesses the place of health in global economic development. Health is understood to be a central goal and an important outcome of development. It is also important to invest in health to promote economic development and poverty reduction. The report suggests a new strategy for investing in health for economic development in the world's poorests countries, based upon a new global partnership of developed and developing countries. Two important initiatives are required: a significant scaling up of resources spent in the health sector by poor countries and donors, and tackling non-financial obstacles, which limit capacity in poor countries to deliver health services
